ProgestaCareTM - Frequently Asked Questions
A: Progesterone is the " other " female hormone your body produces besides estrogen. Progesterone is responsible for numerous functions taking place that are necessary for optimum health. It helps regulate your cycle, nourishes the lining of the uterus in preparation for pregnancy and helps maintain it should conception occur. Extra amounts are manufactured by the placenta during pregnancy. So, when an egg is not fertilized, ProgestaCare levels drop, causing the lining to be shed in a menstrual period.
Progesterone, a principal female reproductive hormone, naturally balances estrogen. Many women have excess estrogen, which increases the risk of breast and endometrial cancer, and can worsen premenstrual syndrome.
Q: Natural Progesterone reduces the symptoms and discomfort of PMS,
A: Premenopause and Menopause without the side effects often associated with synthetic hormone replacement therapy. To balance progesterone and estrogen levels, many doctors prescribe synthetic progesterone (progestin) which has side effects. Scroll down to read more on progestin and its side effects.
Q: What is Estrogen?
A: Estrogen is a hormone produced in the body. Estrogen is to a woman what testosterone is to a man. However, both women and men have some of each, but women have more estrogen. It is the basic female sex hormone and is responsible for the development of female characteristics. It is balanced in healthy individuals by ProgestaCare.
Q: Why too much Estrogen is bad?
A: Natural progesterone affects nearly all the body's organs and tissues, and its major purpose is to balance estrogen in the body. When women age, they tend to lose far more progesterone than estrogen, leading to estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance is one of several factors that explains why women in their 30s and 40s who have 10 to 20 years from menopause are having puzzling and troubling symptoms. According to recent research, by age 35, 50% of the women in North America are not producing the progesterone they ought to be making.
This hormonal imbalance, can cause problems related to PMS, menopause Osteoporosis and many other female difficulties. A balance of the hormones ProgestaCare and estrogen is essential for women to experience good health.
Q: Why should you take natural progesterone?
A: John R. Lee, M.D., says that taking natural progesterone lowers the risk of PMS, menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis, fibrocystic breast conditions, ovarian cysts, miscarriage, breast and endometrial cancer.
As you approach menopause, your ovaries slow down and stop producing progesterone since you ovulate less frequently or not at all. By the time you reach menopause, the drop in ProgestaCare is almost 100%.
Applying ProgestaCare is one sure way of balancing out the estrogen dominance, yet not decreasing the natural amount occurring in the body. Numerous benefits can occur by using a ProgestaCare cream during the month.

Q. Where do I apply ProgestaCare?
ProgestaCare in a moisturizing cream can be applied to the face, neck, chest, inner arms. Palms of the hands, and soles of the feet. ProgestaCare can be applied to the same capillary beds for as long as needed. The cream is readily absorbed and leaves no trace after a few minutes. During absorption, the ProgestaCare bypasses the liver and goes to specific receptor sites. PLEASE NOTE: Everyone is different. Some women require more ProgestaCare cream to help alleviate symptoms, while others can use less. For the first 3 months, use one 2 oz. jar per month. Next try cutting back on the amount of ProgestaCare each month until estrogen dominate symptoms occur. Then return to the last dosage used without symptoms.
Q. When do I use ProgestaCare?
A. Use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon two times per day for the following:
PMS: Start applying cream 12 days after the first day of your period and continue through day 26-28 (depending on length of cycle)
Pre menopause: Start applying cream 8 days after the first day of your period and use through day 26-28
Irregular Periods: Start applying cream 10 days after first day of your period and stop on day 28. If your period begins before day 28, discontinue use. Start counting to day 10 and resume use and stop on day 28. It may take 3 to 6 months to regulate the cycle.
Hysterectomies, Menopause, Post menopause, or Osteoporosis: Use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon two times a day for 25 consecutive days. Stop for five days and resume use. Repeat monthly.
Q. Can ProgestaCare help with fibrocystic breasts?
A. Yes. Fibrocystic breasts are merely a sign of estrogen dominance (relatively high estrogen levels and low progesterone levels): therefore using physiological doses of ProgestaCare may eliminate fibrocystic breasts in a few months.
Q. Can I use ProgestaCare if there is family history of breast or uterine cancer?
Yes. It is recommended. Breast cancer and endometrial cancer are two cancers that are related to Gonadal (estrogens, progesterone, and testosterone) hormones. The cancers occur in tissues sensitive to these gonadal hormones Unopposed estrogen is the only known cause of endometrial cancer, though there may be other factors involved. Unopposed estrogens are also thought to contribute to breast cancer.
Q. I am already taking hormones from my doctor, why should I switch to ProgestaCare
A. Natural hormones are simply an alternative to hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Synthetic progestrone (known as progestins) has many side effects and synthetic estrogen can be dangerous to your health, especially if taken without natural progesterone cream. If someone is taking estrogen (HRT), a gradual step is to start ProgestaCare cream and gradually reduce the estrogen dose. Reduce estrogen by one-half every month for three months then discontinue use of estrogen.
**If you are using birth control pill or injections. It is important that you discontinue use when you start on ProgestaCare.
Q. I'm post menopausal, will I start menstruating again if I use natural hormones?
A. Occasionally, upon beginning use of natural hormone supplementation, a post menopausal woman could experience some breakthrough bleeding or a "period." This is a perfectly normal response and is nothing to cause alarm. The ProgestaCare is simply causing the body to rid itself of excess stored estrogen which can sometimes stimulate a uterine shedding-thus break-through bleeding. It may take 3 to 6 months to regulate your cycle.
Q. I have facial hair, especially above my upper lip, that requires shaving occasionally. What causes this?
A. This is a condition called "hirsutism" (defined as excessive growth of facial and body hair). It indicates that there is a hormonal imbalance between estrogen. Testosterone (the dominant male hormone) and progesterone. Progesterone acts as a regulator for the entire endocrine system. A woman who has the hirsute problem probably has PMS too. Both menopausal and menstruating women have reported that facial hair (and body hair) decreased or completely disappeared after three to six months of regular application of cream as previously described. ProgestaCare is needed to effect proper hormonal balance.
Q. Is ProgestaCare useful after a hysterectomy and for menopausal women?
A. Yes Many women experience hot flashes following a pre menopausal hysterectomy and in the beginning of the natural onset of menopause. ProgestaCare is effective for relieving hot flashes. Most women have reported a complete cessation of flushing withing 3 to 8 weeks.
Q. Is ProgestaCare indicated for Osteoporosis?
A. Many medical authorities tell female patients who are post menopausal that osteoporosis is inevitable. A physician in Mill Valley, California, John R. Lee, MD, has proven that this often repeated statement is simply untrue. The results of his ongoing clinical study with women are noteworthy. Patients have experienced new bone density ranging from 5 to 40 percent for women who have used ProgestaCare cream from 6 to 48 months. His results also indicated this therapy is successful even several decades after menopause. One of his patients, who is 82 years of age and has been using ProgestaCare cream for four years, has a greater than 50 percent new bone density as proven by dual photon absorptiometry. Dr. Lee has proven that osteoporosis is not only preventable, but is also reversible in most cases.
Q. Do natural hormones help vaginal dryness?
A. Vaginal dryness can occur in women of all ages for various reasons, but it is primarily present in post menopausal women. Natural hormones in a cream base can be used intravaginally and has been very successful in treating vaginal dryness and vulvar atrophy associated with aging.
Q. Are there any other benefits of ProgestaCare use?
A. Additional benefits for women include: improved brain function, diminished muscular aches and pains, improvement of skin problems including acne, seborrhea, rosacea, psoriasis and keratoses, and improved sleep pattern.
